Learn skills that will be easily transferable across countries. Look for a country you would like to live in, learn the language if necessary, research where they are hiring.
Do it before Trump’s third term, there will be a lot more chaos then

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•My hot take on the official pronunciation of GNOME
31·11 days agoNo it’s not
Yeah, but the thing is, I’m not really afraid about anyone else. If someone steals my laptop or finds it or whatever, I don’t really care about what they do with my docker cache. And I’m not a target of any particular hacker group. I just feel dirty when corpos train their LLM on my data to sell me useless shit back, so that’s kind of the only thing that I would like to avoid.

3·15 days agoContrary to other comments, it’s actually pretty common and easy to install Linux alongside Windows, if you have a harddrive big enough for both. If you want to have both installed, it is recommend to start with Windows because Linux boot loader can recognise Windows partition and integrate it with no problem. And Linux natively supports ntfs so you can seamlessly access all your files absolutely no problem. But if it’s your first time installing Linux it’s easy to mess up and kill the windows partition if you aren’t good with terminology yet, so backing up all your files is not just recommended but straight up required.
I don’t know, I don’t see a lot of damage or unpleasantness stemming from someone getting into my /tmp, but I don’t want any llm being fed contents of my /home. I am less afraid of an attack, as I am irked by corpos putting fingers into my shit

World News@lemmy.world•The plastic inside us: how microplastics may be reshaping our bodies and mindsEnglish
11·19 days agoThis civilisation of ours runs on plastic. We have solid evidence that burning oil is going to kill as all, and we decided to not do anything about it. Plastic is way more ingrained in our civilisation, you need way more than “just in case it’s actually bad” to have us turn on plastic

World News@lemmy.world•Far-right AfD party fails to secure first German city mayor post in run-offEnglish
5·19 days agoYeah, it’s a shame that they did such a good job in Germany but weren’t able to import it back to their own countries. Imagine if it was as hard for right wing populists to get the power in the US, Russia, UK…

World News@lemmy.world•Far-right AfD party fails to secure first German city mayor post in run-offEnglish
10·19 days agoYou’re correct, but current Germany’s democracy is way more robust than US was. A party can’t just rise to power with the power of bullshit, not quickly anyway. A party has to play with others, it is almost impossible to have all the power, so crazy people can’t just usurp the country. AfD tries to appear less crazy than they are, but the evil shines through, so nobody wants to play ball with them
Just encrypt your home then.

Either somehow every GNOME user is a saint and everyone else is just an asshole, or GNOME is laughably bad and every new release is also bad. It’s either of those two.
Yeah, there is way less hate and mockery towards KDE. Now let’s think why that might be
It’s your own fault you use GNOME

World News@lemmy.world•Bosch to cut 13,000 jobs in blow to Germany's auto industryEnglish

What does it filter? Why do you need a filter in your fridge?
The data and connections were what’s important, algorithms need data, and that was as true back then as it is now.
