Jimmy Kimmel will return to air on Tuesday after his show was suspended following comments he made about the death of Charlie Kirk, Disney has said in a statement released in the last few moments.

“Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country,” the statement says.

“It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive. We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”

Jimmy Kimmel Live posts their monologue to YouTube every night, so you can still enjoy it.

Don’t forget your best friend uBlock Origin (or ReVanced or Tubular or whatever other YT ad blocker you like) when you watch, just to make sure they don’t even get ad revenue from you

Nice try, I will never return to paying for Disney+ though.

There’s not even an apology anywhere to be seen. Just a spineless attempt to have it all go away.

Trying to rewrite history huh - they suspended the show because Kimmel criticised Trump, and the FCC threatened ABC/DIsney. Never forget.

It’s been a while since I meddled with FreeBSD. It shouldn’t be hard - it’s just a web stack with some command line ffmpeg. I think the only thing that might be a challenge is hardware encoding.

There are sweet docker images, but I guess they might require virtualization on FreeBSD.

You know I’m generally helpful in guiding others to do things, sadly the way you responded to that comment I’ll have to take a pass. Why would you assume anything other than they’re going to pirate and haven’t gotten further than that yet.

Perhaps someone less petty can guide you or you can do what I did and figure it out using the internet.

That said I’ll give you two words to begin. Docker. Prowlarr.

I don’t care if you want to gatekeep your torrent sites for only people who conform to your specified kind of corporate nice-speak.

I refuse to allow a fucking billionaire, or an emotionally fragile person who doesn’t like reading naughty words on the internet to tell me how to talk.

I’m justifying my response to a useless emoji, because apparently down votes here are only a “I disagree” button rather than its intended purpose.

We are on lemmy.world. No, we cannot directly link to websites here that are “actively facilitating copyright infringement”. See the TOS.

lemmy.dbzer0.com has plenty of boards that can help you get started, and there is one specifically for open signups. qBittorent + a VPN + Jackett as a qBittorrent search plugin will facilitate most needs - you don’t need to be a member of private trackers to get most media.

Flying the pirate flag made perfect sense as a response. People are not going to bend over and spam links even if it were allowed; you didn’t specifically ask for help - don’t expect it.

It’s the only ring these companies understand.

If there’s no one left who gives a shit they can do whatever they like and won’t feel any pain next time.

The people have some power with their wallet by only if they use it.

You’re under no moral obligation to resubscribe at all, but if nobody does, they made a financial mistake by putting the show back on the air.

No the finanical mistake was the beginning. Eroding the goodwill people had for your company was the mistake. Rebuilding that will bring back the money.

Are you serious? If they don’t have subscribers, they can do whatever they want? I mean sure, but who gives a shit, they don’t make money because they don’t have any customers!

You don’t give them more money so you can take it away later, that’s idiotic. Spend your money on a decent VPN and torrent that shit, or read books instead of consuming so much corporate capitalist empire propaganda, your life will be better anyway.

If they don’t have subscribers, they can do whatever they want?

If they don’t have any people who give a shit as subscribers they can do what they want. They can go batshit insane alt right loony neo nazi with no further penalty, indeed, if they’re pretty much the only subscribers, there’s a financial benefit to go further magat and a loss to do otherwise. And your daughter well plead with you to get disney so she can watch pretty princesses and if you cave, then your son will grow up racist.

When fox pulls this shit they are fine, because sane people aren’t watching anyway. The only reason disney backed down is that it hurt them. If no one goes back, it can’t possibly hurt them a second time.

But absolutely you sold do what toy want with your money and if this was a permanent deal breaker for you, go ahead and permanently reject them. I’m OK with that, really, but I can’t pretend that you’ll have ongoing influence on their future decision making at the same time.

Exactly. He is probably swimming in money already, and could easily get another well-paying job in the industry somewhere or start his own e.g. production company. But the people working for him need their jobs, and there are around 200-250 of them. So even if he could say fuck you to Disney, he has to consider his responsibility to his colleagues/employees.

    Sept 17th.

Nexstar and Sinclair television station owners condem Kimmel’s statements. They planned to preempt his show replacing it with other programming.

Nexstar ABC Affiliates To Preempt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Indefinitely Beginning Tonight

Media giants Nexstar and Sinclair own hundreds of local TV stations, highlighting the significant influence affiliate owners wield over national broadcasters like Disney-owned ABC.

ABC decides to suspend Kimmel’s show indefinitely due to the backlash.

Here is the question. If ABC/Disney reinstate his show, will Nexstar or Sinclair follow through on their promise to preempt his show when it airs effectively killing any ad revenue?

Edit addendum: Sinclair Will Not Air ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ Upon ABC Return Tuesday

That’s gonna make it hard to sell ad space on the next upfronts.
