I see it as a process being abused so heavily because there is lack of interest in it and it is hidden away. Can always be made better, which will probably happen if awareness and engagement with it is increased.
Counterpoint: no. The sperm donor industry is rife with abuse. It shouldn’t be a thing.

If you need sperm, source locally. And get their full medical records so the poor kid knows what’s going on.
But the quality of sperm in my area sucks, I know , I’ve tried it.
