I just look to see if a game is gamepad compatible and go from there.
But plenty of games are awful with a traditional gamepad but excel using the Steam Deck’s touchpads.
With Steam Input you an play with gamepad, even if they don’t support gamepad. Either the community made a configuration you can easily download and apply, or you can create yourself one. But that is not convenient and straight forward like an official gamepad support for sure.
Right. You’re completely missing the point.
With steam input, you don’t even need the gamepad. I think your responder was attempting to contribute to your point.
