    KYC is a trap.

    Always was, always will be.

Not sure what you mean, hackers hanging out is a good health indicator for an online space, and discord definitely wasn’t a platform of choice.

Unless you mean scammers, which isn’t even remotely the same thing.

They think you should be the one to shut up about it.

Shoehorning your agenda into every possible conversation is a great way to drive people away from it.

This problem isn’t something that socialism would solve.

It’s not about your knowledge of socialism. It’s about you being annoying.

It’s no different than vegans unloading their stance on anything even remotely associated with animal products.

It’s also no different than YouTube playing the same add over and over again.

If you incessantly broadcast your message, especially when it’s not warranted, people are going to either tune out or turn against you.

Plus, you’re on Lemmy. Very few people here are against socialism, so you’re just preaching to the choir.

And this is why generic EULAs should be heavily regulated, and allowed to be negotiated like any other contract. Allow me to pencil in a “you’ll allow me to uniquely watermark the scan of my ID so it can be traced back to this specific request, and agree to pay me $500M if that scan is ever included in a data breach or sold to additional third-party vendors” clause.

Oh, Discord doesn’t want to agree to that? Gee, if the company is deleting everything immediately and there’s no risk of a leak/intentional sale, what’s the harm in including it? How’s the saying go? Something about “if you have nothing to hide”?

Unironically the solution here. We need a bit of a negotiation option. Some entity, I don’t know, the EU or other larger regulatory bodies need to force that one down their throat
