Selfhosted@lemmy.world•[question] Help me access my local homeserver using a public domain nameEnglish
31·21 days agoYou don’t need a domain name for HTTPS.
192.168.x.x is always an IP address that is not exposed to the internet.
If you’re trying to make your server accessible on the internet, you need to open a port (doesn’t have to be 80 for 443) and have a reverse proxy direct connections to the services running on it.
Here’s a post that explains the basics of how to set this up: https://lemmy.cif.su/post/3360504
Combine that with this and you should be good to go: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-create-a-self-signed-ssl-certificate-for-nginx-on-debian-10

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•We don't use the word 'fascist' because we wish harm on anybody. We use it because words mean things.
1·21 days agoThis is like the exact opposite.
No it’s not. You get called a fascist for deadnaming transpeople.

1·21 days agoCorrect.
Fascism has always included people who call transwomen men. That’s nothing new.

14·21 days agoDon’t forget the biggest indicator of a fascist:
“Are you not willing to call trans people what they want you to call them?”

2·21 days agoYes, the neoliberals have a very difficult time coming up with effective names for things.
It’s a problem with tribalism where they’re used to people on their side giving them less scrutiny.

World News@lemmy.ml•Greta Thunberg says she is being held hostage by Israel in cell infested with bedbugs
5·22 days agoI’ve been saying this for years.
The proper solution to Israel is to relocate the occupiers to the US, since both countries are pretty much the same, have the same interests, and even engage in the same acts of war.
The problem with this is that Zionists, who are religious nationalists, feel that they are entitled to their “promised land.”
