  • Im not saying OOP is wrong but from translating the pictures I cannot come to the same conclusions. Its more like the textbook is badly worded generalizes way too much so you can interpret it in many different ways.

First excerpt probably should have said: “Different people are born with different (Dis)abilities, but this doesnt make one person better than the other because…” Second one: “You are not completely helpless and not entirely a victim of circumstances. To improve you need the means and the motivation.” Third one:“Teachers should not teach their own opinion, but what the government/Society thinks. The Government/Society can be wrong about things though.(insert historical examples or whatever)” 4th one"In an ideal society girls shouldnt have to be careful, but this society isnt ideal so heres some pragmatic advice…"

Im not saying my suggestions are the best either just how I think the excerpts are meant to be read and how they could be improved.

  • I think its pretty simple; with climate change and pollution comes environmental collapse and starvation. Clean water, food and other ressources will become even harder to obtain. Desperate people will be more likely to turn to exremism and civil unrest will increase. Our politicians know this and are trying to get into a position where they can stay in power and not be eaten. Obviously with hindsight it would probably have been better for everyone involved if we had taken the necessary steps to protect our climate and ecosystems a few centuries ago, but that doesnt get you elected and doesnt matter to you if you are going to rule just for the next 5 years or so.
