sounds like they allegedly wrote some stuff to get faster downloads/avoid throttling while they were allegedly pirating books from shadow libraries for their AI
two recs, nextcloud notes using the quillpad app (you need a nextcloud instance tho) or SilentNotes. Silentnotes has the downside of not having a desktop app (yet, its apparently in the works eventually) so if thats a concern, nextcloud with quillpad is probably a better bet.
