I got a set of RedHat CDs but couldn’t make it boot in my own PC (a Compaq).

Life got me living in Mexico City to get my BS and suddenly I got many more options to try this Linux thing. Mandrake was now the go-to distro for beginners, since Ubuntu was not a name yet. Installed the Linux, loved it. After discovering the DE variety, I distrohopped for years. It was easier for me to download a Live CD somewhere, often at my University, than changing DE in my offline PC. At that time Mandrake became Mandriva, and I distrohopped between Zenwalk, Slackware, Fedora Core, Dreamlimux (lesser known Debian-based Brazilian distro), then got Ubuntu CDs by mail (they used to send them for free, and even included stickers!), and I settled there until Unity.

I just had the damnest experience with Office. Some institution required me to deliver a “doc” document with it’s respective PDF. I’m a Linux user, so there was gonna be some trouble. This document was viewed and edited by several instances, so I decided to use an online tool. Google Docs it was, but this was before the doc requirement. So, after the fact, my solution was similar: to just use the online version of Office, which I had access to through my job. Cool. Well, no. Delivered the document and the doc wasn’t consistent with the Office desktop they were using. Long story short I had to figure out their Office version and borrow a computer with the same Office desktop version they were using, pirated, of course.

There’s also a chance that the seeder finished the download but their software didn’t actually finished processing the files. Sometimes just copying the content to another location (to be safe) and renaming the “part” files to its intended file extension is all you need to do.

Mexican here, and absolutely. The USA is menacing with tariffs each month even with a treaty signed by the POTUS himself. Who, btw, has a boner for sending troops to “help” us combat drug cartels that are somehow related to the DEA, the CIA, the FBI, or the WTFK. Recently, they sent a green-beret warhawk as ambassador. The US embassy in Mexico is the biggest in the world and it had participated in magnicides and coups. So, yeah, the classic American state is dying, but its death will be an authentic superbowl of a shitshow.
