Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you think sentience is an evolutionary side effect, as opposed to a major advantage? alright fine edit: not that it's a dichotomy. do you think benefits outweight drawbacks?

Is it more like nepotism in favor of the Kim family then? Or do they genuinely earn these positions? How is General Secretary of the WPK not a state organ if the WPK is the leading and only party in the DPRK?

Genuine question, is North Korea considered a monarchy (or monarcho-socialist), considering the Kim family has ruled it uncontested for generations? I know that a lot of stuff you read about North Korea in mainstream news is misinformation/propaganda so I’m curious

8·29 days agoGood point. I’ve been eyeing Fedora KDE for the next distro I want to try out, and I’ve heard that’s among the most up-to-date distros that’s not straight-up rolling release

13·29 days agoThat you don’t actually have to do everything perfectly, doing more things but 80% correctly is usually better

9·30 days agoI looked at Winboat’s website, and it seems really interesting but as an engineering student idk if it’s a good idea to take the risk of running a WIP software to access it. Plus, when I tried installing Linux last time (mint) it caused my trackpad, keyboard backlight, power mode options, and gpu/screen drivers to break (couldn’t run hdr, resolution locked to 1080p60, games only ran with integrated graphics). I know I can fix a good chunk of this is stuff on my own with downloading the right drivers/programs and enough time, but I don’t really want to spend any time doing that (and risk doing it incorrectly) since all my school work is on here

Linux@lemmy.ml•Finally done with the distro-hop: My return to Fedora
4·30 days agoWhat makes you prefer Gnome? To me, it always felt too simple, as if they’re treating the user like a child learning how a computer works. I have the same issue with MacOS too

2·30 days agoCan’t you access those with RPM Fusion or something? Whenever I’m able to switch back to Linux I’d really want to start daily driving Fedora

Absolutely. BTW, are you the same person as @Maeve@lemmygrad.ml?
Funny meme, never got why they used a bias instead of two’s complement for the exponent though

Those are natural sciences there isn’t however a natural science. Similarly chemistry and biology aren’t sciences and physics isn’t really a thing anymore, it’s a older umbrella term that covered a bunch of stuff like mechanics and electromagnetism.
