“What about the harm in the mean time?” has a similar problem as the MAGA slogan, in that it ignores the marginalized folks who are experiencing ongoing harm from the status quo. It’s easy to talk about harm reduction when you’re not currently experiencing much harm.

Glad to be of help! Just keep an eye on it and remove/reapply if needed.

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Sometimes people like to complain about windows and iOS
12·4 hours agoYeah, the original post gives a false dichotomy. It’s possible to sincerely let someone vent about Windows/iOS and also suggest Linux tactfully.
Responding “use Linux noob” on every post isn’t helpful. But chatting with a coworker and hearing them out, then sharing about your own experience (“yeah, I finally got so fed up I tried Linux. Turns out it was super easy and I’m glad I switched!”) is helpful and adding something.
The minute this becomes popular, there will be an influx of people who offer this service. And some of them will privately report you to your boss instead, and they’ll get paid twice the usual rate while you’ll get a pink slip.
If you want something more capable that will handle more experimentation, go for the mini PC. If you know exactly what you want to host and you want to prioritize low power consumption, the pi might be a better choice.

Ah, the forbidden knowledge.
I wish I could have more hope that Android will ever decouple itself enough from Google to be useful/practical as free software. Unfortunately, it looks like it’ll end up going the other way, and freedom-respecting Android ROMs will likely be niche and only supported on a narrow range of hardware.
I imagine the Linux phone has better long-term potential, as it’s not tied to a proprietary ecosystem.
Also worth noting, not all caulk is created equal. Get some that is specifically for shower/tub use.
I just did a bathroom reno, and yeah, the drains are often screwed on. But to change it, you’d need access under the tub, which means either going through the wall behind the tub drain, or going up from underneath (depends on the type of tub). If you happen to have a closet or something on the other side of the wall, you can see if there’s already an access panel you can open to get a better idea of how hard it’ll be to fix.
It looks like the drain piece is an ABS piece that is glued directly to the drain pipe. Unfortunately, if you don’t have access under the tub, it’ll probably be difficult to replace. You’ll probably need to call a plumber and coordinate with your downstairs neighbors to get that fixed.
In the mean time, yeah throw some caulk or something on the crack to keep water from seeping down. I don’t recommend JB Weld, as it will probably be more difficult to remove when you want to fix it properly.

0·1 month agoI’m using VoIP.ms and yeah, they do SMS and MMS ($0.0075 per SMS, $0.02 per MMS). They have both an online portal and an Android app. There are a few limitations, but it seems to work pretty well overall.
