I’d just like to interject for a moment…

Yeah not gonna lie, i think i heard someone in a youtube video a while back talk about how the entirety of wikipedia takes up like 200 gigs or something like that, and it got me seriously considering to actually make that offline backup. Shit is scary when countries like the uk are basically blocking you from having easy access to knowledge.

It’s not really a live tracker or tracked by popularity, but if i’m looking for software in a specific category to see what choices there are i often go the archwiki list of applications.

I think he’s referring to framework financially supporting omarchy and hyprland.
Well i’m not saying it’s rocket science, but compared to runit/rc.local or simple autostart scripts i do think it’s easier. I converted everything from my autostart script to systemd services when i was still on NixOS, and the whole thing seemed so convoluted. With having to set services to depend on each other, and also had a lot of problems with things like nm-applet or blueman-applet not showing up in the bar at all, and couldn’t find a way to fix it.
For my basic needs it always felt more confusing then necessary. Don’t have a hate boner for it, but i prefer not to use it at this point. I’m using Void and i really like how simple runit is.
Yeah i was pretty young at the time, maybe like 10 years old or something lol, so it was probably too complicated for me back then. I tried ubuntu and linux mint somewhere around 2010 on my first laptop, but i just tried it because it looked so different compared to windows, but i didn’t get the point of it and switched back because my windows games didn’t work lol. Ended up giving it another try back in 2021 when i saw LTT talk about how linux was actually usable as a gaming platform, and i got sick and tired of windows and their creepy questions everytime you clean install. Have been using linux ever since.
Bruh i remember as a kid watching a tutorial on youtube from some guy installing yellow dog linux on his ps3, wanted to try it as well but never managed to do it at the time, and then later the other os feature was removed from ps3.

Streaming services suck in general if you ask me. Even on windows the apps are ass imo. As an ultrawide user i always hated that i can’t zoom in on movies or shows to get rid of the black bars on the top and bottom and fullscreen it properly. I understand that that’s a weird edge case but it’s just one of the problems i had. With disney+ in particular, even on the windows app i couldn’t stream in 4k. I figured i’d try watching on ps4, but the audio would have this weird clipping like once every minute, which wasn’t an issue with the hardware, because it also happened on ps5 and with different headphones. I even went as far as buying an android tv box because i wanted to be a good boy and watch it legit, but that didn’t work out either, cause the box started getting slow and it would randomly exit the app in the middle of watching a show. So in the end i gave up and started pirating. Their service was so awfull that i saw no other option, which is kind of insane when you think about it. And now i can watch it in my player of choice, and properly fullscreen it on my ultrawide display.
I mainly dislike it because of it spamming the loopback devices. I know you can filter those out but i don’t want to lol. Last time i heard their servers/backend or whatever was also proprietary, but i don’t know if that’s still the case. In general i don’t really understand why you would choose it over flatpak, and i’m not really a flatpak fan either :p
Oh that’s weird lol. I think if i remember correctly when i looked it up, the white light on my motherboard is actually staying on as a warning that no display is connected, which is nice and all, but it would have been great if it turned off again when a display is detected, but it just stays on forever. It’s only a very small light but it’s bright as hell, so it’s really annoying and it hits your eye eventhough the pc is off to the side lol.
I have a different problem where if i don’t turn on my monitor in time, it will still work just fine but my motherboard will turn on this annoying little white light that won’t turn off again, so i have to reboot to make it go off again.

XLibre claiming to be apolitical is hilarious when their readme sounds like it’s written by a MAGAt. Never touching that project that’s for sure.
Also pretty sure that stuff about the founder is bs, unless you can back that up with a source. From my understanding he ended up stepping down because he was already putting more attention into determinate nix, which was causing friction.

Just makes it sound like whoever wrote this is projecting, considering what the NixOS project is actually facing.

I’ve considered it, but i like nix better than scheme, and i need non-free software and kernel, which is doable with non-guix but much more tedious with third party iso’s. I went back to Void linux but i still use nix + home manager, and the huge repo alone wins out for me.

I mean yeah, if you ask a fascist how they feel about fascism, they probably don’t think it’s a big deal.
I prefer editing in the terminal, but when it comes to gui editors i’ve heard a lot of good things about kate and geany.
Eventhough i’m a void user i really like the artix logo and i think it’s on of the best looking logos in neofetch/fastfetch
