3 months agoThe $20B was printed by JPMorgan Chase bankers so that Jared Kushner and the Saudis could buy EA at 45% off. In return, the saudis promise that they can siphon $20B from fired workers back to the bankers over the next ~10 years.

PHP does actually scale better than something like Lemmy which is written in rust

Also, nextcloud core components are written in Rust, the PHP just handles incoming requests.

0·1 year agoWhile soldiers should be well informed and educated, it is insane to say that an army can rely on ad-hoc strategy and bottom up leadership. That might work for guerilla warfare tactics, but it does not create a coherent force in any other situation.
There should be civilian control of the military, but internally militaries require command hierarchy for the most significant decisions.
The president/parliament says we attack this country with these wargoals, the general says we attack this region, the commander says we attack this town, the officer says we attack this road, and I decide where to walk and what to shoot. There is no time to have a committee meeting about this and it is bad for opsec for every soldier to know where every other soldier is going.

Yes, it’s a loan so big that normal personal finance “savings and loans” rules don’t really apply. This loan is 3X EA’s entire revenue, 2X Nintendo’s entire revenue. Basically an entire new game-publisher’s worth of money flowed into the gaming industry to exert dictatorial control over EA. JPMorgan Chase just have to make sure that they get their money back from the EA employees they just helped the Saudis buy.
