vim does not respect nano shortcuts and modes are simply a barrier: an extra keypress and another thing to keep track of. It slows you down significantly.
You obviously haven’t used much vim if you think modes slow you down. First it means you don’t have to bring your right hand all the way to the arrows whenever you want to move the cursor, secondly it means you can use shortcuts without adding a modifier everytime - this translates to fewer keypresses.

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL Gabe Newell (CEO of Valve) bought and owns the megayachts company Oceanco
5·16 days agoBut who let that happen? People.
You make that sound like billionaires aren’t fighting tooth and nail to keep their fortunes. Gabe could pay his employees more, he could donate his money, he could do a myriad of different things with it, but no he chooses to keep it and buy yachts. Does that make him evil? I’d sure as hell argue that it does.

Games@sh.itjust.works•Physical disc production ending in January 2028 for new games releasing on PlayStation consoles
23·2 months agoIt’s not, physical sales have been dwindling in general, although part of the reason for that is the push towards digital.

6·2 months agoThe solution here has never been to keep producing disks, what we need is proper digital ownership laws that let you resell game keys and force stores like steam to disentangle them from your account.

The devs can easily revoke the keys and burn the content creator, they’re choosing to be victims here.
