absolutely crucial. All my devices are always connected through a VPN, and usually I try to route my traffic through a different country. When your country is paying for a service to monitor citizen’s internet traffic, anonymity is worth paying for.

Games@sh.itjust.works•Should a PvPvE game have to offer a PvE-only mode?English
96·10 days agoNot at all.
I miss the old days when people weren’t so insanely entitled. Developers can make whatever game they want. People can play it if they want to. That’s how the relationship works.
I really, truly, seriously hate modern implementations of AI and am willing to make concessions in my life to avoid using it. Windows 11 forcing Copilot was my last straw for using Microsoft.

5·29 days agoThey already do, the only difference is now the slop will be made by AI instead of underpaid developers in Romania.

10·29 days agoI mean… you’re talking about the company that makes billions of dollars a year on FIFA games, which are already only one step removed from AI slop. I don’t seriously think EA’s customer base will care; the quality of the games made by EA is already low enough that I don’t believe the use of AI will move the needle. And honestly, will anyone care if it’s AI updating the rosters and title to FIFA 26? I guess I feel bad for the working devs putting food on their table, but is that the job that want?

0·1 month agoI mean, it’s a direct sequel to a difficult souls-like. It’s hard to have too much sympathy for anyone who didn’t play the first Hollow Knight but wanted to jump in on the sequel, since I think anyone who played the first HK should have a good idea on what Skong’s difficulty looks like.

0·1 month agoOh god, I love the anime but yeah I can understand that their super loosey-goosey style of episodes would be p bad if you wanted super detailed organizing. The place I’ve been watching them just groups the content into a single episode, since they effectively are broadcast as one single piece, just with (potentially) multiple chapters.

0·1 month agoI mean, most AAA titles don’t even run on launch nowadays, so I’m not really sure how the quality can get much worse than “unplayable.”

Linux@lemmy.ml•Being a "middle" user is the most difficultEnglish
0·1 month agoGonna be real, I haven’t had to bother with my OS for the past two months, so I disagree with a lot of this post. The take I disagree with the most is that things that would be difficult regardless of OS are somehow “harder” in Linux though. Getting old games to run on Windows is also a massive PITA, and oftentimes can be easier on Linux since you can always just run a WINE instance using whatever version of Windows the game was originally intended for. Same for old obscure software, anything from like the XP era does not play nice with Windows 11 in my experience. It sounds like the bigger issue is that you have learned a lot about Windows, and haven’t learned a lot about Linux, so your knowledge base for Windows is better.
The actual issue I think is huge for your hypothetical “middle user” is hardware based. Some hardware is just better for running high performance applications on Linux than others. In my fancy, shiny, top of the line rig, my experience in getting games to work is I download them and run them with Proton. I’ve done no troubleshooting, barely use any applications other than Steam for gaming, and so far have not found a game I wanna play that doesn’t work. On my old Nvidia-based rig that I replaced, however, it was the exact opposite story. Nothing ever worked, I was constantly looking through error logs and trying to troubleshoot, and most of the time the answer was hardware that wasn’t properly supported.
everytime I see someone else with the same pair of pawprint leggings and cat ears as I have, I’m reminded that I’m the basic bitch variant of femboy T.T
