If it makes you feel better, virtually nobody is immune. The ADF and other anti-democratic organizations do this for their bread and butter. They slowly chip away at public sentiment over time, even if it takes decades to pass their extremely dumb shit.
It’s a fun game, but 5e really showed its age. If you like these sorts of games try Divinity 2: OS. It was built from the ground up for modern platforms. It does away with spell slots, overhauls magic, armor, classes, and terrain/elemental effects in ways that are fundamentally incompatible with 5e, but make the game a lot more enjoyable.
That didn’t stop me from playing a ton of BG3, but some of the gameplay itself felt like a step back, even as the story, characters, and UI improved.
I’d try a bath as a last resort. You’d need the highest concentration isopropyl alcohol you could find, like 90%+. I’d also recommend removing any plastic parts and disassemble the metal backing. If things are soldered or glued together, I might not chance it, as moisture could stay trapped inside.
If it were me, I’d probably replace the switches if that’s an option. Isopropyl bath could work, but I doubt you’ll be able to fully remove the tar. It’s like that dust mixed with grease that kitchens sometimes get.
