Seeing someone being kept around even though they perform badly can just also make you quit internally. I’d refuse to put in any decent work when it’s obviously possible to be kept around and paid while not doing anything productive. Performing well in such cases just means I’m doing the other’s job too and their salary should be mine on top of what I already earn.

Ngl if I were married and my spouse came home after doing something like this you can bet whatever is most valuable to you I’ll be doing everything in my power to keep them happy and with me because such people usually are absolute keepers. How good of a person you really are tends to show extremely well in how you behave towards the weakest members of society and animals clearly are part of that group.
