The debt doesn’t “go away”, the countries sell it on the market, causing the price of us bonds to drop. That causes the yield (what it costs the us to service the debt) to go up. Borrowing becomes more expensive. Repaying debt or borrowing more to pay interest becomes even more expensive for the us.

Which means that the patents are void to start with. But they can still be used to bankrupt a smaller company with court battles regarless. The fact that patents with obvious prior art get granted so easily is a wild.

Presumably they could never afford to port to mobile themselves, without cooperating with Netflix. Since you don’t want to pay for a Netflix subscription… You’re not missing out on anything. It wouldn’t have existed if not for Netflix.
