A couple months ago when the Game Pass price hike was announced, I checked my profile to see what tier I was in: how much I was paying. Turns out my account had expired, was tied to a credit card I haven’t had for a while. I really only play single- player games and apparently nothing on Game Pass interested me.

I don’t think you have to “fix up a junker.” You can find older vehicles that are modern enough to incorporate OBD2 (which helps troubleshooting and maintaining) but modern enough not to be connected to surveillance programs; late 90s into early 2000s maybe even 2010s. You can find them that have been basically maintained.
You’ll sacrifice things like warranties and included maintenance plans, but you’ll be hard pressed to find a mechanic that won’t work on it, parts will be plentiful and cheaper because I feel like lots of things were less bespoke to each manufacturer around that time frame. Plus they didn’t have a computer connected to every little thing. And theres junkyards for big parts.

If you have your own tools (or a friend with them) there will be a cheap shop manual you can get (like Haynes) and/or a plethora of youtube videos on how to fix and maintain it.

The price of ownership might be higher but the cost of entry will be significantly less. Not that everyone can or is willing to do the above but there is a middle ground that doesn’t involve junkers.

Powerful local families and armed gangs – including some anti-Hamas factions backed by Israel – stepped into the void. Many are accused of hijacking humanitarian aid and selling it for profit, contributing to Gaza’s starvation crisis.

Nahed Sheheiber, head of Gaza’s private truckers union, said Hamas was acting against gangs that had terrorised people in areas controlled by Israel.

“Those gangs looted aid and killed people under the protection of the [Israeli] occupation,” he told The Associated Press, saying they operated in so-called red zones where Israel had ordered people to evacuate. The Israeli military did not respond to a request for comment.

Hamas-linked Telegram channels said Hamas had targeted “collaborators and traitors” working with Israel. The Hamas-run Sahm security force, which says it targets looters and other criminals, shared footage that appeared to show its forces killing eight people execution-style in the streets as people cheered. It said the detainees were gangsters.

There’s a neat false equivalence.

Why hold her in contempt? What’s that gonna do? Who cares? Congress and the courts have no teeth, this administration knows that and they’ve shown us. Hold her in contempt and they won’t even slow their stride.
