We don’t really have a better alternative sadly. Independents tend to either sit between Labor and libs rather than left of Labor or lean hard into libertarianism economicly rather than socially; single issue candidates are usually right wing and/or religious psychopaths; the greens have good policy but are uncompromising on many issues so lose a lot of support due to misalignment with the opinion of the voter majority.
