    You are going to need to cite sources for the claim that it is well preserved and corroborated. Especially compared to similar records of the time, like those of the Romans, Greeks and Chinese

    It gets so many things blatantly wrong. Things that were obvious, even at the time it was written. No better than fairy tales in many sections.

    You are correct in saying that it should be understood in its context.

    It is a compilation of bronze age tales from multiple religions forged into a state religion by the Constantine bureaucracy in order to better use it as an instrument to control rebellious peoples.
