Someone made a joke on tiktok “going on a debate with Charlie Kirk” and put the Minecraft xp sound in the background (in Minecraft when you kill a mob, you get XP which you can later use to enchant armor and tools… Picking it up has distinct sound). Also, as you may have guessed it, folks complaining how “liberals killed dark humor” or however are they saying do not like dark humor
Normally blood and gore makes me upset. For whatever reason, I smiled the first time I saw this video. Then the next 15 times as well.
Some guy yesterday described it as all the hate he spouted had emptied that bucket of empathy a normal person would feel. There are only so many times you can hear such hateful and hurtful things that POS said before you lose the ability to feel any sympathy for them. Sorta like what he felt for everyone but just for him. In my case I felt nothing bad when I saw that video. Nor the image above.
In times like this, fascists will work to weaponize empathy. They’ll say you’re an awful person if you don’t feel bad about it. They’ll say you’re awful for shit-talking, because you lack empathy. In reality, demanding empathy from the victims of fascism is another violence against the victims that those fascists actively work to oppress.
Fascists have mastered the act of shooting and crying, then using empathy (or more specifically, the lack thereof) to demonize the same people they have been shooting at. They begin by oppressing people. When those oppressed people eventually refuse to show empathy for the fascists, the fascists claim that the people they have been shooting at are monsters. And that is used to further justify the fascists’ actions.
Don’t fucking fall for it. This is the same idea behind “the tolerant left” being coined by conservatives. It’s used as a cudgel whenever intolerance is refused, like some sort of gotcha. If you feel empathy for him, then great for you. But don’t let anyone make you feel bad for refusing empathy against an oppressor. Because the person attempting to villainize you is only working to victimize you.
People yesterday were pretty passionate about this not becoming a meme but I think with time anything can be made funny.
Case in point: All the 9/11 memes today

Ngl, the fact that a 9/11’s worth of people were dying every fucking day, just in the US, during the peak of Covid, and one entire fucking half of our country was just shitposting and TRYING to spread it more entirely reframed 9/11 for me. Before, it was A Serious Thing. Now… well, I have put on my absurdism glasses.

I’m glad to see this, I feel like all Americans should have to come to some personal terms about the 9/11 worth of daily COVID deaths that half the country were just casually ok with. I prefer existentialism to nihilism as a response to the absurdity of the world, since nihilism is just going to trap us in a cycle of resigned apathy, but a little self-reflection is preferred either way.
And related to the 9/11 comparison: amazing how there was no reckoning about how hundreds of thousands of those cumulative deaths were attributable to Trump’s mishandling. From that standpoint, we elected Osama bin Laden times a thousand to be president, after he took down the twin towers.
stupid nazi-cowboy country. I’m tired of seeing my tv, cinema, internet… full of people with guns and shooting each others. Even your memes are problematic.
Come back and talk shit about Nazis when your country’s government can go a few years without collapsing under the pressure of the far right.
The turning point logo makes this even better
Seeing a “human” being just become an unliving object is still disturbing. I’d rather he burn alive in hell.
I 100% agree. Reminded me of budd Dwyer. I’m all for gibbing and violence in video games because it’s not real but watching it IRL is a little sobering…
.(Reads what racist and xenophobic shit that he believed in). … Just a little
They think the shooter was trans, but I’d bet real money that when the find the shooter its going to be a right winger. It almost always is. Dems draw the line at talking about being angry.
This comment appears to have aged well.
30.06 to the fucking neck. For those not in the know, that’s for taking a deer, through everything, lungs and heart. Considered a humane way to drop a medium-sized animal instantly. No pain. The shockwave is astonishing. Kirk’s brain and spinal column were shut down, he felt nothing, had no idea anything happened. He was “disconnected”.
My FIL shot a deer from front to back with that same round. He was so horrified seeing that animal ripple, never hunted again. I’m no hunter, but I feel him. I have my own reasons for not hunting.
Or, you’re living in WWII and shooting Nazis, which we see here. Get fucking used to it. This will be a sight on your own block soon enough. Take my AR? Aight. I’ll break out the 30.06.
Most gunshot deaths are exactly like this, with less spurting. Early internet, I saw a Mexican college kid protesting. Took a 12-gauge, 00-buck, straight to the chest, 12". He merely looked surprised, little blood bloomed on his shirt, dropped straight down.
It’s not Hollywood, people flying backwards through plate-glass windows. Nah. People simply drop on the spot, sack of potatoes. No drama. Simply dead. Early cowboy movies caught grief because the actors would simply drop when shot. That’s how it works.
I know most of y’all aren’t shooters. Here’s my poor joke on the difference in AR-15 rounds vs. 30.06. Charlie was hit with a fucking cannon.
That is depressing. He never got to see in his last moments that he fucked up, he just became a corpse.
Did you get the rounds backwards or am I not smart enough to get the joke…
Shot goats with the .303 and yeah, they didn’t slow down at all
That’s the joke. Old-school hunting rifles are far deadlier than an AR-15.
Whooosh
I thought it was a .30-06. A .223 could do that at 200 yards, but the way it took him out looked almost identical to a good killshot on a deer. And the .30-06 was designed for much longer ranges than a .223.
Hunted a bit growing up. My guess is, if you hit a human pretty much anywhere above the thighs with .30-06, they’re not going to live through it. The hydrostatic shock is devastating and the exit wound is significant.
If the round was armor piercing, .30-06 has enough force to go through a car engine block.
Why the fuck would you post this without tagging NSFW?
Because it is safe for work, maybe not safe for life, but work.
where you got that from? i only find censored versions
There is a highly NSFL video of it on the c/news megathread.
do you perhaps have a link? cause i am unable to find it in the >1k commentsnevermind found it
Help a brother out?
I’ve never understood why people panic when a VIP is shot. Random public murder, sure, but clearly you the public are not in danger in these situations.
Please NSFW this for people who are specifically trying to avoid images of someone getting killed.
/u/dessalines I would suggest that community consensus should be able to apply the NSFW tag without poster or moderator intervention.
I think some “moderation actions” should be better crowdsourced beyond simple upvote/downvote system, to offload the burden on moderators who can then, only review community consensus actions, rather than perform all actions themselves and have to view and decide everything. One example of this is the “community notes” of Xitter. I think there is a lot of opportunity for improvement compared with the shadowy and unaccountable ways that moderation is usually performed on social media.
Yeah, you could keep usual moderators as the basis and ultimate arbiters, but it would be, at the very least, interesting to try your approach. E.g., anyone can check the mod queue and be randomly assigned to moderate a recently reported post, and to avoid abuse or mistakes it could require 2 or 3 people agreeing on how to resolve something.
I would also like to see most moderation actions, be a filter applied client side and under full control of the user. Moderation becomes a “default view” of the consensus, that users are not forced to abide.
After that, we can have client side ability to ignore certain user’s moderation action based on their account history and history of reliable judgment and the user could decide how much weight to give to various actors in the ecosystem
