As someone who is in the process of going through their second full immigration process (first was US), it drives me absolutely nuts that they can just buy citizenship elsewhere. They know the US is about to have an economic collapse, possible policitical coup or uprising, and that billionaires’ and their wealth are the target of the opposition party.
Wealth tax is terrifying, almost as much as jail or dying. Way cheaper to hire a huge PMC tier security team and ride it out in a foreign country that will be less affected by the US.
