Taiwan saw a surge of Chinese military planes near the island, its defense ministry said Sunday, after a sharp drop in flights over the past two weeks had sparked discussions among observers.

The ministry detected 26 Chinese military aircraft around the island on Saturday, with 16 of them entering its northern, central and southwestern Air Defense Identification Zone. Seven naval ships were spotted around the island, it reported.

The increased number of aircraft came after the ministry reported a fall that left analysts scratching their heads about what China’s military may be up to.

‘Oh you don’t want the extinction of humanity through global nuclear war? Why do you support the invasion of Taiwan’ how is there even 1 other person dumb enough to upvote this.

Even a non-nuclear war with china is a terrible idea. They have 1.4 billion people and are the global manufacturing hub. If for some reason the war stayed non-nuclear the US would still be completely screwed if the war didn’t end in the first month.

What does a successful intervention look like here. “stand there and let us bomb you, you aren’t allowed to strike back at us with ICBMs because that would be unfair. We only wanted to fight you in this theater of war where we don’t have anything at risk beyond our navy.” Ludicrous. The idea that the US should intervene is so obviously born out of decades of US imperialism1. You’ve gotten so comfortable with the idea of attacking functionally defenseless countries that you’ve forgotten that some countries can fight back.

If you think the US should intervene to defend Taiwan do you also think China should intervene in the current war to defend Iran?

      1. or you bought in to the decade+ of very obviously manufactured consent but how much of a rube can you be.
