So far, there’s no replacement for many parts of YaST that I use frequently, so I’m holding onto them until they stop working. Supposedly, more Cockpit addons are planned or in the works. I do hope that it eventually can do all the things YaST used to be able to do. It was a great tool.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Does anyone use SimpleX chat? Why or why not? Is it actually tangibly better for privacy than say, Signal, for example?English
8·26 days agoI do. It looks nice and is easy to use. My less technical friend wanted to use something more private than texting, and we decided to use it together.
All of YaST is deprecated because it was too difficult to maintain, and the devs are constantly telling people to stop using it over on the official forums. We’re supposed to have switched to Cockpit and Myrlyn by now.
Yes, I’ve only ever seen the term dumbphone used to mean a phone that’s just a phone, not a computer. No OS, software, internet, etc.
I always thought people used the term “dumbphone” to refer to old-fashioned devices that are just a phone and don’t run any OS.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Is there a CLI Tor HTTP client, like curl/wget but routed over the Tor network?English
2·1 month agoTorsocks is what I use, personally. You just put ‘torsocks’ in front of whatever command line you can normally use. Works for gui programs, too.
I use Freetube and I’m happy with that, but I"ve seen people say a lot of good things about Grayjay.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Linux phones are more important now than everEnglish

0·2 months agoI thought The Canary was highly recommended as an independent news source. Is their reporting inaccurate? I’m not British, so it’s hard to tell.
That’s basically what happened to me when I switched after W7 went EOL. I set it up to dual boot, but I realized I never actually booted into Windows, so I deleted everything on that drive except files I wanted to keep, and just use it for storage.

I use rclone run by crontab.
