The formatting on this comment is terrible. Is it because of the app I’m using or just how it is? I use Voyager.

41·22 days agoThat website is dogshit, didn’t even open properly and gave me seventeen popups. Judging by the headline though, good news.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Linux desktop use spikes to over 10% in North America for the first time. There is also a corresponding drop in Windows and OSX use.
3·25 days agoAlso true, yes. I guess we can agree that Microsoft sucks lol. But seriously, what Microsoft division is actually doing good things? Windows is bad, xbox is horrible, corporate tools like teams are widely hated… What, their azure thing is doing okay I guess?

5·26 days agoTo be fair they released 11 before the latest price surges, might have been during the graphics cards price hikes though, can’t remember when that happened.

Linux@lemmy.ml•TUXEDO Computers is switching the base of TUXEDO OS from Ubuntu to Debian for greater stability and control.
4·2 months agoProbably. It is good as a backup though, they have options this way, if they decide Ubuntu isn’t a suitable base anymore, they already have things in motion.

3·2 months agoIt does make sense, though i think you’re right, and they won’t unless Ubuntu does something to force them. Ubuntu has lost so much good grace from the community. I remember the times it was basically the go to distro, and now a lot of comments are recommending not giving it a try.

12·2 months agoIs Mint planning the same? I know they have their debian edition, but don’t remember of it was meant to become the main edition at some point.

3·2 months agoJust do it, postponing it won’t make it easier. I did it and find myself not spending as much time on stuff that didn’t even really matter. Got most of my family on signal to get off of WhatsApp and now I’m Meta free, until they buy signal or something at least lol.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•EU people - when messaging your MEPs for Chat Control or Age Verification, do you need to be a citizen of an EU country?
3·2 months agoYou lose nothing but a few minutes to try. I’m one of those people who don’t think they will care either way, and I contacted them anyway.
Yeah, I think YouTube will be the last Google service I let go also, a lot of content I enjoy is the exclusively there as far as I know. But I have also decided to get rid of Google, meta and such as thoroughly as I can, so I do hope some combination of nebula, peertube and/or whatever else google free I can find will suffice. I am mostly annoyed by the similar things you were when it comes to yt. Thanks for the Tom Scott shoutout, I wasn’t aware he started making new stuff. You’d think YouTube algorithms would let me know lol.
Alright, thanks for taking the time to comment. As I said, I’m pretty much already going to give it a go, but hearing people’s thoughts on it is appreciated. The thing about actually knowing you’re contributing to paying the people whose content you like does sound appealing.
I have been on the edge for a while now, I’ll probably end up at least trying it after my vacation. Do you really think it’s worth the subscription price?
Works for me, might be a temporary issue, or on your end somehow?
