8·2 days agoStraight half? No. A select 3% a year for five years? Maybe. If you’ve seen any of the realistic critiques of the Thanos snap you know that doesn’t go well. Trimming down the fascists, oligarchs, nationalist, theocrats, tech barons, and similar greed and hate mongers should be enough without crashing everything.

Still prefer torx for anything more than drywall or door hardware.
I have a ten minute window where it doesn’t matter when I leave the house, I get to work at the same time. If I leave before that I get to work fifteen minutes early and I’m not getting paid for that.
Call the local dojos. Ask if anyone wants to be in an action film. They need to look Asian and stand about the same height as Steven Seagull sitting down. We’ll pay them in exposure.
And then you get someone like Thomas Thistlewood. Just an average slave owner.
Breakfast cafés go downtown. IHOP likes to hang out with Olive Garden and Chili’s. Dennie’s is for old people. Waffle House will go places where the gas stations have bulletproof glass. They are in places where people need cheap food at 2:30 am. Waffle House is for travelers and partiers. They are for the unemployed, self employed, third shift or just shifty. Being open 24/7 makes them a place to be. Somewhere you can go to. Occasionally there are people who need to go somewhere and they are a little stressed out, a little wound up. Maybe a few screws loose they try to fix by huffing the thread locker. Getting a little glue to fix the cracks. So the staff is people who will work at a place that has crazy show up at 3am. They tend to be a bit gangster.
So to this question, a customer from Waffle House who would start a fight is someone who is willing to fight the entire staff in one go and usually doesn’t stop till they catch a barstool to the head.
That said, don’t be afraid to go to a Waffle House. They are exactly what it says on the box. Waffle and coffee, cheap. Most people there are happy, tired, and/or want to be left alone.
Mussolini started the fascist movement and was doing some serious aura farming ,as the kids would say. Going for rebuilding the Roman Empire would be a serious Minion bait.
Hitler passed him in evilness and had a penchant for ridiculous super weapons. Some of the cockups they had could have been Minion level.
Stalin was neck and neck with Hitler for evil, murder, and conquest. However, I think by the time they turn his way, the Minions would have looked at all the purges, holodomor, etc and just decided to take a personal vacation until the CIA showes up.
Yes! I forgot about that. Too much interesting times to remember it all.

8·10 days agoHaving everything open, on and available 24/7/365 sounds nice until you realize the human toll for things which aren’t that necessary and can be planned around. Down time is a good thing.
Back in the late 90s there was a brutal multiple victim murder where some random guy walked into the back of a local restaurant before it opened and killed everyone in the kitchen. Some TV station did a true crime story on it where they changed the all the names but the local police had a copy and knew it was that story. I kind of realized then that they just pull the subject case out of a hat and slap on The Voice, a camera filter, and follow the formula of tense interviews and add breaks.
Yes, they have a very good idea on accuracy. For the record, I was originally a young earth creationist but curiosity got the better of me. Geologists are very obsessive about rocks so it’s just a case of puzzling out what rocks match perfectly despite distance, accounting for things like erosion or volcanoes, and lining up the various ages of rocks for when they were made and when other rocks filled in. Then add fossils to check connections and weather conditions. There is obviously more than this, but it’s something a person can get real deep into.
The planet would not be noticeably different in size. The last time the earth got a noticeable rise in mass we ended up with a moon. There is evidence of objects in the lower mantle that are most likely old sunken tectonic plates, but I don’t recall details.
The times when it’s tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. The way it’s set up usually these days is that you have to pay for the first few thousand, then insurance pays part of the next few thousand and then they take over the rest. Unless they can figure out a way not to pay it. Because of insurance companies the cost of medical care has become massively inflated as well. Not just the extra paperwork and people, but also the hospital doesn’t care about being competitive, and they make up even bigger numbers so they can give insurance companies “discounts”. Then insurance just passes the cost back on the consumers.
Can be. The numbers are basically made up. It’s not uncommon for people to get their X-rays done at a chiropractor and take those to the Dr because it’s cheaper and insurance refuses to pay or it costs more even with insurance. I know someone who realized his wife’s insurance copay was more than if he paid cash for their kids birth. The insurance situation is insane and very complicated. Everything you hear about it is true and happens regularly. I tell people that I would rather have socialize medicine just for getting rid of the paperwork and nonsense. Unfortunately greed and racism are standing in the way.
You haven’t seen me bake. There are no maps where we are going. I follow dark magic and shepherd the carbs to their full potential.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•California just passed a law forcing mandatory DRM in 3D printersEnglish
6·12 days agoNo, most people realize that it’s a nonsense argument based off a couple action movies. Same reason they banned butterfly knives and nunchucks in many states despite the fact that you can have any other knife and say a lock in a sock. It’s hype based pearl clutching. Why sneak a pos plastic gun through a metal detector when the better option that is already used is to wait for the target outside, or to just run in guns blazing? The whole concept of “ghost guns” is the same way. Criminals already are not getting tracked down by serial numbers. Even without the 2A arguments though, this is a stupid thing to put on 3d printers.

If we had just stitched to wind/solar/battery and gone full tilt on electric cars we wouldn’t be having nearly as much trouble with all this.
Also not letting a demented pedophile run the US.
