One thing to consider about mailbox.org is that if you don’t use your own custom domain and keep an @mailbox.org address (which afaik is considered a best practice for privacy because it lets you “hide” in the crowd), if you decide to move on later they will make your old address available to others later.

I read that Mamdani polled at 1% back in February, about 9 months ago. Cuomo was a former governor of the state, so was his father, and his brother had a show on CNN so they had stacked named recognition. Thankfully negative recognition as well, given Andrew’s behavior. Still, to go from 1% to over 50% in 9 months is an incredible result for Mamdani.

One other thing to consider is that Bitwig has 3 tiers, you can upgrade between them, and they have significant sales occasionally, like in the Summer. I think the 3 tiers were going for $79 ($20 off), $149 ($50 off), and $299 ($100 off) in the sale, from what I recall, and also significant education discounts if you’re a student. Finally, there are legitimate places online to buy used licenses of DAWs.
I third bitwig, especially for an Ableton user. It was developed by former Ableton developers and is supposed to be similar to it. It’s available as an official flatpak, and it has a 30 day(?) free trial. Some people seem to even like Bitwig better than Ableton. I’ve been seeing a bunch of videos on YouTube about people moving from Ableton to Bitwig after trying it out.
From what I understand, aside from whether the DAW you like will work you also need to check whether the VST plugins you like will work.
Much later edit: I forgot to mention https://www.zrythm.org/, which is an open source DAW which is supposed to be fairly similar to Bitwig.
For the time being we’re using Rufus to bypass TPM and other hardware requirements so we can install Windows 11 on everything.
Heads up, Microsoft has stated that they do not support machines that don’t meet requirements and that those machines may stop receiving security updates at any time.
Awesome! If this is your type of thing, you may be in for some amazing experiences, particularly if you can play it multiplayer with friends or on a good server. Look up some good Project Zomboid video reviews or fan trailers to get an idea.
It doesn’t have much of a pre-defined story to it, but I would say Project Zomboid is pretty moody and has a lot of gameplay depth.
Awesome post, thank you! I’m a huge fan of rally in general and bought Art of Rally pretty much when it was released. Here are some other cool driving and rally games that come to mind:
GeneRally 2: top-down arcade racer in early access, sequel to a popular freeware game from the early 2000s. It has a track editor and probably nice arcade physics like its precursor.
Driver: retro Playstation 2 title that lets you be the badass getaway driver of 70s movies. If you haven’t heard of this, it’s so good in terms of emulating those types of movie scenes.
Rally Trophy: retro rally sim that focuses on historic rally cars from the 60s and 70s, i.e., mostly 2WD and RWD.
Mobil 1 Rally Championship: retro rally sim that was known from what I recall for having realistic full-length stages of the real British Rally Championship. We’re talking 20, 30+ minute stages from what I remember reading. I think that this is really cool and wish that there would be more games like this. There used to be mods that fixed issues with some aspects of the physics on it.
Xpand Rally: it seems that one unique feature of this retro rally game was that it included a track editor so that you could edit the game’s stages or design brand new ones.
Finally, a game that’s not about driving at all, but about being a rally mechanic: Rally Mechanic Simulator. I just discovered this recently and it looks interesting.
Note: this thread is on the Steam Deck community but I’m not sure about the compatibility of any of these games with that. Check before buying.
